Sumners Farm

Registered South Poll Cattle

Thank you for visiting our South Poll cattle site. We are located in rural Marshall County in northeast Alabama, which is 1 hour southeast of Huntsville and 1.5 hours northeast of Birmingham.

Sumners Farm is family owned and operated by Stanley and Andy Sumners. We started raising South Poll cattle in 2006 with a herd of 20 South Poll heifers from Teddy Gentry, the founder and president of South Poll Grass Cattle Association (SPGCA). We have grown to a herd of over 100 mama cows and continue to grow as we can.

Just a little bit of info about us. My dad, Stanley, and mom, Helen, have raised cattle all of my life and they also have 2 layer hen houses. They have 2 children, Tisha, who is married to Matt George and they have 2 children of their own, Mason and Brynlee. I, Andy, am married to Misty and we also have 2 children, Noah and Maggie. They all help in some form on the farm when they can.

In 2015, Andy & Misty built 2 poultry houses on the farm that are 66 x 600 foot houses. They currently house around 60, 000 birds per house. Grow out times vary, but mostly average 33 days with an out time of 20-25 days. Andy has been able to leave his job at AT&T and work full-time at the farm. The cattle and chickens keep him busy.

If you are looking for quality cattle that can graze grass and do a great job at raising calves, then South Poll cattle is what you are looking for. On the farm, we try to do as much strip grazing as time allows and do the best we can at raising quality cattle that producers would like to have on their farms.

We would love for you to visit the farm and let us show you our cattle. If we don’t have what you are looking for, we can get you in contact with other South Poll breeders around the U.S. They will also be willing to help you in any way that they can.

Again, thank you for visiting our site and feel free to contact us anytime.

Sincerely,

Andy Sumners & Stanley Sumners
